Why I Created a Preschool Curriculum for Ages 3-5
8 years ago I opened an in home preschool in my basement in Idaho. I had 10 adorable students who were ready to learn. They soaked in every little thing we did. They loved hands on activities, practicing fine and gross motor skills, music, and reading. When I first started teaching I looked for a curriculum to support my work. I bought a few, but each one failed. They all lacked something: excitement, cohesiveness, enough activities, music, or more. There was not one perfect one. So, what did I do? I created one! I began working, tweaking, editing, trying, and using my own preschool curriculum and that is where this Preschool Curriculum for Ages 3-5 came from!
What You’ll Find
This preschool curriculum for ages 3-5 covers all the essential standards to help your students be Kindergarten ready. Each theme begins with a unique song to help introduce the topic for the week. The theme includes a variety of printable pages. Some are work for students to write on, some are matching or other games that can be cut out and used as a group. Each theme is meant to spark creativity in you as well. Additionally, It can be used on its own, or with other ideas added from you.
For example, the Teeth theme: after looking at each of the pages, what can you create to come up with the theme? You are the skilled and master teacher, what do you have to enhance learning even further? Do you have toy buses the children can play with as you sing the song for the week? Do you have outdoor games that can be taught to teach the children about the rules for recess related to Back to School? Each theme includes enough activities for a whole week of teaching preschool, but also allows you the autonomy of adding what you need for your students as well.
Overall, I wanted to provide a curriculum that could be used on it’s own and be affective for all students, or added to an already running well classroom and work as well. This preschool curriculum for ages 3-5 will do just that.
