My favorite time of year is Fall! I love the change in the temperature, I love feeling like the year is winding down and we get to snuggle in close with our families at home, and I love teaching Fall themes at school! There’s nothing better to me then using books to go along with our themes at school. Read a book, learn from the story, and use activities to go along with each book. Today I’m sharing with you some of my fall preschool theme book ideas as well as a FREE Fall preschool leaf cutting printable.
Fall Leaves Fall Preschool Book Companion
Fall Leaves Fall is one of my favorite books to go along with fall preschool theme book ideas. It’s a great book to talk about all the fun things you can do with leaves! Read the book, then use this book companion to go along with the concepts. The book companion includes:
Trace the line to have the child jump in to a pile of leaves
Draw a picture of leaves that you collect
Cut lines to groups of leaves
Identify all the uppercase L’s on a L is for Leaf picture
Match all the lowercase letters
Write your name next to leaf pictures
Sort, glue and identify uppercase and lowercase letters
Count up pictures and graph them to identify which has more or less
Trace and write the numbers 1-10
Trace the shapes and write them
Five Little Pumpkins
There are several version so the book “Five Little Pumpkins,” but all of them tell the cute counting story of five pumpkins in the Fall. This is a great story to use near Halloween time, or all Fall long. The book companion includes:
Trace the line for the pumpkin to jump off the gate
Trace the lines from 5 pumpkins
Trace and draw 6 different shapes
Design their own pumpkin including a fun jack-o-lantern face
Draw a line between pictures and the letter sounds they begin with
Trace all the uppercase letters

Fall Apples Crisp and Juicy
Talking about apples and apple picking is a great topic to incorporate during your Fall Preschool Theme. I love this book because it talks about all the fun you can have while apple picking. How fun would this be if you could take a field trip to an apple orchard at this time?! You can also use the book companion to have fun learning activities. It includes:
Trace the jagged line for the wagon to pick up the apples from the tree
Trace wavy lines to eat the apples
Color in capital letter A’s
Practice writing their name
Finish basic patterns
Practice counting to 10

One of my favorite themes to cover in the Fall is farm. So many fun activities can be done around the farm theme during the Fall. Make sure to ask a local farm near you if you can come in for a visit! Along with this book companion you will find these activities:
