Alphabet Matching Game for Preschoolers

The Idea for the Alphabet Matching Game

My two year old and four year old son have been super in to the show “Umizoomis” lately. Have you seen it at your house? It truly is the cutest show for littles and teaches awesome Math skills. After watching it for a few weeks, my four year old has been naming shapes and counting so much more than he was before. It was then that I realized, if he was learning that rapidly in Math, it was time I step it up in the alphabet game. So, I created a FREE alphabet matching game for preschoolers.

Setting up the Game

The setup and concept are super simple, yet very affective. Simply print two pages of the alphabet matching game for preschoolers. I printed 4 because I was letting my two children play. Use one paper as a game board, and cut up the other paper into separate letters. From there, how you play is up to you! You could hide the individual letters around the room, let the child find them one at a time and match them on to the game board. As you match them, make sure to practice saying the letter name and the sound that it makes.

Sensory Bin Play Alphabet Matching

For my son, sensory bins are essential for fun and lasting learning. So, I chose to play the game with our most recent sensory bin set up: beans! I put the cut up letters in the sensory bin, and using his fingers, he dug through the beans to find each letter. He loved it so much he matched each letter and then begged to play again!
