For me, my absolute favorite holiday is the 4th of July or Independence Day here in the United States. I think I love it so much because everyone seems united for one day, it doesn’t take a lot of prep as a parent (unlike Christmas!) and we get to be together as a family for a whole day just having fun!
I think it also helps that I grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where the 2nd biggest fireworks show in the nation occurs each 4th of July. I have a lot of pride for that show! If you have a preschooler, you can also incorporate a lot of 4th of July learning fun. Today I am sharing my ideas for a 4th of July Preschool Theme.
4th of July Preschool Theme
This 4th of July or Independence Day preschool theme if perfect for your full 4th of July preschool theme. It includes:
Color and design your own parade float
Write your name next to each 4th of July picture
Trace the lines to the fireworks
Trace the line to help the children walk in the parade
Cut out pictures and tell a story about a barbecue
Draw a line between the matching pictures
Draw a line to correctly finish each pattern
Follow directions to color pictures
Cut out and glue pictures to the correct group
Write numbers to finish each number line

Veteran Themed Books
I love incorporating Veterans Day themed books in to my 4th of July preschool theme. You can find my whole veterans day preschool bundle here:
My favorite part of this whole bundle, though, is the book about Hero Mom’s and Hero Dad’s. Both of these books are wonderful books to really teach children about those serving in the armed forces and all that they and their families sacrifice. In this book companion you will find:
Tracing a swirling line
Cutting straight, curvy, and jagged lines
Matching Game-matching shapes
Practicing the color grey
Coloring soldiers
Tracing crescents
Tracing the number eight
Counting to eight.
Name writing practice
You can find this specific “Hero Mom” and “Hero Dad” book companion here:
However you are celebrating your 4th of July, whether it’s with parades and fireworks, or staying at home with those that you love, I hope that you feel the love of our country and grateful for our freedom as we learn and grow on this day together!
